Meet Our Team

 

Elizabeth J. Sumner, President

Elizabeth Sumner became an owner of ServiceMaster Landscape in 1992 after spending a number of years in the construction industry in Memphis and Knoxville.  She has worked for Gardner General Construction and Zellner Construction Company in office administration and with Sverdrup-Gilbane on the jobsite of the construction of a bulk mail facility for the USPS.  Elizabeth grew up in Louisiana, and attended Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas.  She has served on numerous fund-raising committees at Madonna Learning Center, where her son attends school, as well as working to support various special needs organizations in and around Memphis.  Elizabeth holds a Tennessee Affiliate Broker’s License, and is in the process of obtaining her certification as a Pest Control Applicator (Horticulture, Lawn and Turf) in the state of Tennessee. Her hands-on experience in the field of management, specifically in landscaping, is the basis for her high standard of quality for the customers that we serve. Contact
 

John Sumner, Vice President

John Sumner attended Memphis State University and received advanced technological training from the University of Alabama and Georgia Tech, studying construction technology and music. He holds a Tennessee License for Pest Control Operator (Horticulture, Lawn and Turf), a Tennessee Contractor’s License and a Tennessee Affiliate Brokers’ License. He has held certifications for the testing and repair of backflow devices, pesticide applicator and the supervision of asbestos abatement contracts. Mr. Sumner is Secretary of the Midsouth Airshow Foundation, past vice-president of the Tennessee Irrigation Association, and a former board member of the Variety Club of Memphis, the Variety Children’s Charities and Special Kids and Families. For the past 25 years John has been active in the Memphis landscape business, working for seven years as a manager at Environmental Landscape Services before founding ServiceMaster Landscape in 1991. Robert Horton, Vice President-Customer Relations

Robert Horton joined ServiceMaster Landscape in 2001 in his current position, and has been a tremendous asset to our company.  After receiving a BS degree in Agriculture from Mississippi State University in 1975, Robert spent eight years as an assistant to Wallace E. Johnson,co-founder of Holiday Inns. He worked for several years in the 1980’s as a supervisor for Environmental Landscape Services here in Memphis.  Before becoming a member of our team, Robert worked in sales and customer relations and development in the Memphis area.  His dedication and commitment to customer satisfaction helps define the mission and purpose of our company.  In addition to sometimes being on the job seven days a week, you can also find Robert performing his music in and around Memphis. Kalki Winter, Vice President-Operations

Kalki joined ServiceMaster Landscape in the summer of 2000 as the Vice President of Operations after nine years in food service management, including three years as manager of Paulette’s Restaurant beginning in 1997.  A native Memphian, Kalki studied business at the University of Memphis.  He also studied fine arts under the tutelage under Bill Hicks of the Memphis College of Art, and his work can be seen in art galleries and exhibits around Memphis. His extensive experience in the service industry has made Kalki an invaluable addition to our management team.  Kalki is responsible for the supervision of all maintenance field personnel, as well as overseeing our quality control program.  He holds a certification as a Pest Control Applicator (Horticulture, Lawn and Turf) in the state of Tennessee, and participates in ongoing training and education in that field.  Kalki has a keen eye for quality and excellence, and has always focused on customer satisfaction.  His artistic training adds to Kalki’s awareness of the aesthetic value of our customers’ landscapes. Stan Ellingon, VP-Landscape Design & Installation

Stan Ellington is a service orientated landscape professional with over 20 years of experience in the Memphis area. His extensive plant knowledge and design experience allow creative solutions for a variety of projects. Prior to joining ServiceMaster Landscape’s team, he was the owner of Human Nature Landscape for fourteen years.  Stan earned a B.S. in Engineering Technology, University of Memphis His major was Architectural design.
